The first fraternity started at SIUC in 1923. The Interfraternity Council (IFC) began in 1934 at SIU and is a sub-council of the Inter-Greek Council and a member of the North American Interfraternity Conference
(NIC). The purpose of IFC is to maintain a high level of fraternity and interfraternity relations to further social and intellectual accomplishments, to cooperate with the University, administration, and community in the maintenance of high social standards, and to improve and maintain relations between the fraternal organizations and the community in which we reside. Each IFC fraternity sends representatives to IFC’s biweekly meetings.
How to Join an IFC Fraternity
Early in the fall and spring semester IFC has many events throughout the campus to allow you to meet members from each chapter. More information can be found at www.siugreeks.com. Alcohol is not allowed at any recruitment event or activity. It is important when choosing a fraternity, you decide what you want from your Greek experience. If you are interested in learning more about fraternities, please complete the Greek Interest Form.
Requirements to Join an Interfraternity Council fraternity:
Each organization has its own minimum requirements set by their (inter) national organization and SIUC chapter. Please contact the SIUC chapter that you are interested in to find out their requirements. IFC has its own
